Preparations continue for Artists and Disability Oppression: Up Close and Intensive

Artists and Disability Oppression Up Close and Intensive exhibition

Artists and Disability Oppression Up Close and Intensive Thursday 23rd march to Sunday 26th March 2023. Preparations continue for the exhibition. Hi lighting more and more Disability Oppression. Funding systems are too complex detailed and impossible to access because the competition is so great for a small fund pot. Also no information about what is available. I can retire in August and I’m just listening to Access to work seminars! I had No idea what was available and have modified and stopped working frequently because I was not getting my access needs met. Society has very little idea of the skills and talents it is missing out on because of the ableist oppression. I received a £350 grant from DAiSY Surrey Disability Arts to start this project but have totally financed the rest of the work. This is totally shocking to me. I remember my daughter in school being asked why the top kids were getting all the attention and the ones who were behind were ignored. Many years out of school the same is happening. With an energy limiting condition I do the best I can. No support worker, personal assistant or note taker or driver for me. Recently I was shocked at the Knitting and Stitching show to find the headliners had their work transported and put up for them. Oh such luxury. Anyway that’s my thoughts. I am determined to get this magnum Opus of mine exhibited. It will be my best effort with the skills and energy I have
